Dissipative and depressive silencers

Many companies out there have employees that must work in noisy conditions every day. It’s up to us to provide them with a product that minimises the amount of sound. Our solutions come in the form of steam boiler silencers as well as other models. We manufacture each one specifically to meet the requirements of our clients.
Silencers come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. In order to choose one for yourself, you need to know how they all work. Understanding their features will allow you to make the right choices. This shall then make shopping for one easier. To help, we intend to discuss certain types of silencers here.

Dissipative

Firstly on our list are dissipative silencers, also called absorptive. They use sound absorbing substances to reduce sound waves. People commonly use them in HVAC duct systems. You configure a standard dissipative silencer in a parallel baffle arrangement. It’s best to select the thickness of baffles or acoustical linings with reference to the noise’s frequency. When a sound wave passes through the material it can become heat rather than noise.

Depressive silencers

The second type of silencer we’re going to cover is the depressive design. We refer to them as diffuser silencers as well. They come with perforated pepper pots. It’s their job to slow the flow velocity down. In addition, they stop the production of low frequency noises. They’re primarily used with involve control valves. They’re also useful for jet engines and nozzles.
At Ventx, we offer our steam boiler silencers as acoustic cores that you insert into pipework or as complete units. It’s also possible for our team to design models for plants currently in the design phase. We always work closely with our clients to ensure they get the best possible value.
If you would like to know more, all you need to do is get in touch with us. We are happy to answer any questions and offer our input in terms of what silencers you should choose.
