In general terms, the silence configuration involves looking at the flow rate of the gas, as this determines the necessary diameter of the silencer in order for the matter to pass through whilst avoiding erosion of the acoustical packaging, and without regenerating noise. When it comes to the length, this is determined by the desired level of noise reduction.
There are different kinds of silencers to choose from, including gas ejector silencers, direct line silencers, plus vent discharge silencers and control valve silencers. Gas ejector silences reduce any noise created by hydrocarbon gas or steam. Direct line silencers use absorption as opposed to pressure variation, and are often used with compressors. They can be provided as a whole unit, or as an acoustic core, which is then inserted into your existing pipework.
With Ventx, our final option of silencers combines a diffuser design with an absorptive core section. The result is that the gas and noise enter the silencer through a multi-hole diffuser, which expands through the many holes into the expansion chamber. Additionally, it provides a shift into higher frequencies, meaning that they are better attenuated by the absorptive area. Lastly, this section consists of perforated flow passages, which are surrounded by dense long strand fibreglass acoustical packing. This offers a broad range of attenuation from the mid to high frequency range.
